Oxycera rara is a fly from the family of soldier flies ( Stratiomyidae ).

Features

The flies reach a body length of six to eight millimeters. Your body is colored black and hairy whitish, with the males, the mesonotum is hairy yellow-brown. The animals have a yellow drawing. Two calluses between the wing root and the tag ( scutellum ), the latter itself, triangular shaped binding to the sides of the Mesonotums, legs up on the dark tips of the tarsi, the hips and the thighs rings, four oblique side binding on the thorax and two pairs of spots on the sides of the abdomen and its tip are colored yellow. The buttons are small, the proboscis is from the front and has broad labella. The antennae are dark brown, the eyes are covered with dense hair in males and females. The labels in the shape of a semicircle and has two spines.

Occurrence and life

The species is widespread in central and parts of southern Europe. They are found in Central Europe widely used in the summer and can be observed on flowers in the herb and shrub layer.
