Marmorgrundel ( Oxyeleotris marmorata )

The Marmorgrundel ( Oxyeleotris marmorata ) is a freshwater fish of the family of Butidae and probably the greatest exponent of Grundelartigen ( Gobioidei ). It is used in Thailand before in the basin of the Mekong and the Chao Phraya, in Indochina, on the Malay Peninsula, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Features

The Marmorgrundel is on average 30 inches long, but reaches a maximum length of 65 centimeters. Your body is elongated, round in cross section and flattened only on the tail fin shaft. The head is large and flattened, the mouth is tilted upward, the lower jaw is facing. The Vorkiemendeckel has no spine. Way of life

The Marmorgrundel lives in rivers, swamps, reservoirs and channels and migrates during the rainy season in flooded forests and other flood-prone areas. It is crepuscular and feeds on small fish, crustaceans, insects and mollusks and is a substrate spawner. The ravenous animals can eat as much as they weigh in the day.

Use

The Marmorgrundel is considered an excellent food fish and is marketed in a large part of East Asia. Exports reached their meat high prices.
