P. T. Selbit

PT Selbit ( born November 17, 1881 in Hampstead (London), Middlesex County, † November 19, 1938, real name: Percy Thomas Tibbles ) was an English magician. He was the first to suggest the illusion of sawed virgin.

Life and work

The early 1900s was Tibbles a professional illusionist. From 1902 to 1908 he joined notion under the stage name Joad Heteb ( Joab Hetab ) with a "pseudo -Egyptian ". 1912 and 1913 Tibbles worked for Maskelyne and Devant. Later he developed his future pseudonym by backward reading of the surname, omitting the second Bs; came to the initials of the first name.

He developed sawing a Lady led Selbit on January 17, 1921 before the first time in Finsbury Park Empire. He also developed the following illusions: Walking through a Wall (1914 ), Girl / Man without a Middle ( 1924), Through the Eye of a Needle ( 1924), Million Dollar Mystery ( 1927 ), stretching a Girl, Avoiding the Crush, The Mighty Cheese and Selbit 's block. The Siberian Chain Escape may be of Selbit.

PT Selbit has a place in the Hall of Fame of the Society of American Magicians today.
