Padmanabha

Padmanabha ( Sanskrit: पद्मनाभ Padmanabha [ pʌdmʌnɑ ː b ʱ ʌ ] " it with the Lotus Abel " ) is a manifestation of the Hindu god Vishnu.

In its form as Padmanabha Vishnu is shown reclining on the serpent Shesha ( Ananta ). From his navel sprouts a lotus flower on which the god Brahma sits. The presentation is based on the Hindu creation myth, according to which the universe was created when from the navel to the serpent Shesha resting in the primordial ocean Vishnu driving a Lotus grew.

Particular importance has Padmanabha as a family deity of the royal family of Travancore in today's state of Kerala in southwest India. The Maharajas of Travancore called themselves "servants Padmanabhas " ( Padmanabhadasa ) and ruled nominally as a representative of God. Your residence from 1550 to 1750 bore the name Padmanabhapuram ("city Padmanabhas " ), and after they had relocated their capital to Thiruvananthapuram, they built there at the end of the 18th century the great Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
