Padre Burgos (Southern Leyte)
Padre Burgos is a Philippine municipality in the province of Southern Leyte on Leyte Island. It has 10,525 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 11 barangays. The community is described as partly urban and lies on the west bank of Sogod Bay, about 26 km southeast of the provincial capital Maasin City.
Padre Burgos was formerly known under the name Tamolayag and was a part of the community Malitbog. The community was founded on 23 October 1957, was named after the Philippine national hero Jose Burgos.
