Pagny-le-Château

Pagny- le -Château is a commune with 495 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Côte- d'Or in the Burgundy region; it belongs to the district of Beaune and the Canton Seurre.

History

Over time, the place bore the name Pancium, Paygnay -le- Château and Pagny- la- Brûlée. The current name refers to a non-existing castle.

Attractions

  • The castle chapel. Built in the 12 century castle of the Vienne family was rebuilt after its destruction in 1530 by Admiral Chabot again. 1774 again destroyed is no longer receive anything from the main building. The corresponding chapel ( built from 1297 ) was 15-16. Century for Gérard de Longvy (House Longwy ) renewed in Renaissance style. Large parts of the former sculptures and furniture are now in the Museum of Philadelphia ( USA) and in the Louvre, including the grave times of Jean and Jeanne de Vienne and Jean de Longvy.
