Pai Gow

Pai Gow, also P'ai Kao, is a Chinese game of chance with dominoes and - apart from his native Macau - also played in the USA and Australia much.

The basic idea of this game was transferred to the game with cards, and so the variant Pai Gow Poker, which is very common especially in the casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City has been developing.

Pai Gow, to German as: nine (points) make, has some distant resemblance to baccarat chemin de fer; the occasional assertion that it was a precursor of Baccarat is however certainly not correct.

At the beginning of each game set the Pointeure against the respective banker; this mixes the stones and finishes them face to a wall ( woodpile ) of eight stacks of four. Then throws the banker three dice and counts, starting with himself, according to the eye sum counterclockwise: Once determined, the player gets the first stack of four stones, the player to whose rights the second, etc. Players may use their stones to the other not show other players.

Each player arranges his four stones in two groups of two stones,

Below the Gee Joon the pairs ( Bo) are ranked according to the following ranking

Pai Gow Poker

The basic rules

Pai Gow Poker or Asian Poker is an introduced from the Tropicana in Las Vegas as a casino game in the 1986 adaptation of the classic Pai Gow for the game with cards: the complicated ranking of the domino combinations was replaced by the more common order of poker hands.

In a game of Pai Gow Poker up to seven players can participate; one player is the banker, the other set against him. The dealer shuffles the cards, then pull it off and gives each player seven cards face down to. To determine who will serve as the first parts, the ceremonial of the game is often applied with dominoes, that is: it is like throwing dice there.

Each opponent and also the banker shares his blade into two groups:

  • A high hand or back hand consisting of five cards and
  • A low hand or front hand consisting of two cards.

The ranking of high hands essentially follows the usual order of the poker combinations, with some minor exceptions ( see below).

The ranking of low hands, in descending order:

  • Pairs: Aces - Kings - Queens - Jacks - 10s - ... - 2s
  • No pair A- C, A- Q, A -J, ..., A -2, K- Q, K -J, ..., 3-2

In the ranking of the Low hands, there are no straights or flushes: consecutive cards or cards of the same color are not rated separately here. The low hand must again stand in rank among the high hand, you may wear do not take two kings in the low hand and a high hand, a combination of two aft identification.

The other rules follow those of the game with dominoes:

Are all players finished their arrangements and have their cards placed face-down on the corresponding fields of the gaming table, the croupier turns over the cards, and it is the billing.

Each player plays against the banker. To win, a player must

  • Both a real high-order High Hand
  • And show a genuine high-order Low hand as the banker;

The player receives in this case, a gain in the amount of its use, but he also has - in contrast to traditional Pai Gow - pay them 5 % commission to the casino.

However, the player wins with only one hand while the other hand is beaten by the banker or it is set, the game is a push, ie a draw.

Can beat both a player hands or at least adjust the banker, so he wins its use; the banker has to pay his income tax than 5% again.

The individual players have the right to play two coups in a row as a banker, then change the law, the bank to keep the player at the right hand of the banker; Of course, a player can already pass on the bench after his first coup.
