The painter of the mourners at the Vatican was named with a makeshift Notnamen because his real name is not known. His Namenvase located in the Vatican Museums and shows a grieving woman in front of bedded on straw naked body of a man standing. The interpretation is controversial but may have been Eos and Memnon suggested also Europe and Sarpedon or Oenone and Paris. John Boardman described him as thoughtful, but sometimes inaccurate artist.
