Pakatoa Island

Pakatoa Iceland is an island in the Hauraki Gulf in New Zealand. It is about 24 acres in size and 60 m high. It lies about three kilometers west of Waiheke Iceland, Iceland Rotoroa lies a kilometer south.

The island was purchased in the early 1900s by the Salvation Army and used for the treatment of alcoholic women. In 1964 the island was sold to Robert Kerridge, it is today one of the few islands of the Hauraki Gulf, which are privately owned. On the island there is a tourist resort, a landing strip and a landing stage and a golf course with nine holes. Beaches are located on the north and east sides of the island.

The island was purchased in 1994 by John Ramsey, who lived here for some time, recently it was sold again.
