The Palais des Sports de Pau is a multi-purpose hall in the southern French city of Pau. Mainly it is used by the basketball club Élan Béarnais Pau - Lacq - Orthez and offers to the Games 7,707 spaces for visitors; of the total number of seats are 500 box seats. The building opened in 1991, has an octagonal floor plan and four pillars in the corners; support the roof. History

The beginnings of the Palais des Sports de Pau back to 1988 with a meeting of the President of the Basketball Association Élan Béarnais Orthez, Peter Seillant, and the former mayor of Pau, André Labarrère. The previous Venue La Moutète in Orthez no longer met the requirements of the club after winning the Korać Cup in 1984 and the French Championships in 1986 and 1987. Too, for economic reasons moved one of Orthez ( around 10,000 inhabitants) in the bigger city to Pau ( about 85,000 inhabitants). It was agreed the construction of the hall. In the presence of many guests opened Laurent Fabius, former President of the National Assembly, along with club president Peter Seillant and Mayor André Labarrère on 12 January 1991, built for FRF 78 million multi-purpose hall. Renewed in 2000 to paint the facade and six years later, the damage of a fire in the clubhouse had to be eliminated. The hall was repeatedly venue for matches of the French Davis Cup team ( 1991 semi-final against Yugoslavia; quarter and semi-finals in 1999 against Brazil or Belgium; quarter-final against the Czech Republic in 2002; quarterfinals in 2006 against Russia). The Palais des Sports de Pau was one of the venues for the European Basketball Men 1999 and the Men's Handball World Championship Women 2007. Too, as a concert venue is the Palais des Sports in Pau.
