Palatinate-Mosbach-Neumarkt

The County Palatine of Pfalz- Mosbach- Neumarkt created in 1448 by uniting the dominions of Pfalz- Mosbach and Pfalz- Neumarkt and ruled until their extinction in 1499 by the line of Pfalz- Mosbach of the Palatinate Wittelsbach. It consisted of free float with a focus in the Odenwald to Mosbach and to Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz.

The Palatinate line of the Wittelsbach was divided after the death of Rupert III. of the Palatinate in 1410 in four lines that Kurlinie with the capital Heidelberg and the lines Palatinate - Neumarkt, Pfalz- simmering and Pfalz- Mosbach.

Was founded the line of Pfalz- Mosbach by Rupert youngest son Otto I, who moved his residence to Mosbach. From his marriage with Johanna of Bavaria- Landshut nine children were born.

With the extinction of the line of Palatinate - Neumarkt 1448 whose possessions were in the Upper Palatinate to the Mosbacher line and Neumarkt was used by Count Palatine Otto I as a second residence.

His son Otto II (1435-1499) continued the line, moved his seat of government but to Neumarkt. There Otto II died childless, thus also the line of Pfalz- Mosbach extinct. The territory was returned to the Elector Philipp of the Palatinate ( Kurlinie ) and was reunited with the Palatine domain.

The Prince of Leiningen took the kingdom in 1803, among others, the title of " Count Palatine of Mosbach " to; this has nothing to do with the Palatinate - Mosbach treated here line - Neumarkt.
