Paloma Herrera

Paloma Herrera ( born December 21, 1975 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine ballet dancer with the rank of " Principal Dancers" at the American Ballet Theatre.

Life

Paloma Herrera was born in Buenos Aires, where she began her ballet studies with Olga Ferri at the age of seven years. Due to her talent she quickly became known in South America and won several competitions. At the age of eleven, she continued her education at the Ballet School of Minsk ( Belarus ). After returning to Buenos Aires, she danced the " Cupid " in the ballet Don Quixote at the Teatro Colon.

In 1990, Herrera ballet competition of Varna (Bulgaria) where Nataliya Romanovna Makarova was noticed her and invited her to study at the School of English National Ballet in London. Herrera completed her dance training at the School of American Ballet in New York from where she danced the title role in Raymonda in the annual school play. In 1991 it was taken over the company in the corps de ballet, and two years later she was promoted to soloist in 1995, just 20 years old, was appointed Principal Dancer.

Herrera was honored in 2001 by the American Immigration Law Foundation for their exemplary role for the immigrant community in New York. Today it is one of the most renowned Argentine ballet dancers and also appears regularly as a guest with other companies. Her repertoire includes both classical ballet and modern pieces. It has also created a series of rollers.

  • Juliet in Romeo and Juliet ( Prokofiev )
