Paluel

Paluel is a commune in the Seine -Maritime ( Haute -Normandie ), with an area of 1087 acres and 462 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ). The tourist, whose name comes from the swamps (Latin palus ) derived in the lower valley of the Durdent, lies on the English Channel coast at a height of 9 meters above sea level. It was created in 1825 by merging the two municipalities Paluel and Conte Ville.

History

Archaeological Excavations at the La Rosé mentioned the remains of a hall decorated with mosaics Gallo-Roman design to days.

After the landing of the Allies in the Second World War, the American camp Lucky Strike was home to 300,000 people.

The French electricity company EDF built in the years 1977 to 1986 the nuclear power plant Paluel, which covers about six to seven percent of the French demand.

The nuclear power plant provides 1,257 jobs. Other sources of income are tourism ( camping, Bed & Breakfast ), agriculture (cereals, sugar beet, vegetables, linen) and livestock (cattle, horses). The place has a small airfield.
