Panda, Gorilla & Co. is an animal documentary series of the RBB, the Tiger & Co. follows on the huge success of elephant. In the series Tales from the Berlin Zoo and Tierpark Berlin to be told.
The series began in 2006 with 52 episodes, although originally only 40 episodes were planned. Like the original, Elephant, Tiger & Co. also offers Panda, Gorilla & Co. a look behind the scenes and accompanied vet and nurses in their daily work. The spokesman Olaf Baden lends the stories of Panda, Gorilla & Co. His voice. The program is produced by the DOKfilm television production, the editor is Sabine Preuschhof. The directors are Anja Hagemeier and Jana of Rautenberg. The consequences are each about 50 minutes long.
The first episode was erstausgestrahlt on 18 April 2006 and the last episode of the first season in the ARD on 20 July 2006. Average of 1.81 million viewers watched the episodes of the first season. From 3 January 2008 to 3 March 2008, the second season was broadcast in the ARD. From 20 January 2009, the third season was aired on ARD and RBB. From 8 May 2009, the fourth season was aired on ARD and RBB. It consisted of 60 episodes.
Since August 24, 2011, a 40 episodes complete fifth season will air.
In addition to the regular episodes there are various specials, was cut for almost always existing footage reassembled.
The DVD release of the series was mixed. The existing film material of the first season was cut anew. For each ten episodes (or at DVD 5 twelve episodes) was composed three new episodes with a running time of approximately 50 min. Some more scenes have been added as bonus material. There appeared five DVDs that cover a so-called "Best of" all episodes ( 1-52 ) of the first season. From the second season have been published only eight episodes on two DVDs, these are uncut and comply with the TV broadcasting. In addition, under the title Panda, Gorilla & Co. Junior appeared a DVD with episodes of different animal babies, was cut for the also existing material anew.
