Pangu Party

The Pangu Party (including Papua and Niugini Union Pati ) is a political party in Papua New Guinea.

The Pangu Party was founded in 1967 by Michael Somare, who later became the first Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea. She was from 1975 to 1980 and from 1982 to 1985 government party under Somare as prime minister. From 1988 to 1992 ruled guided by the Pangu Party coalition government of Rabbie Namaliu, who had assumed the presidency in 1975. Somare is now chairman of the National Alliance Party.

In the 2002 parliamentary elections the party won 6 of 109 seats and was a member of the coalition government of Michael Somare. After the parliamentary elections of 2007, where Pangu won 5 seats for themselves, she continued her involvement in the new coalition Somares.
