Panos Valavanis

Panos Valavanis (Greek Πάνος Βαλαβάνης, born 1954 in Athens ) is a Greek classical archaeologist.

Panos Valavanis studied at the Universities of Athens and Würzburg. Since 1980 he works at the University of Athens, where he works as an associate professor of classical archeology since 2000. Valavanis research priority for Greek pottery and vase painting, architecture and topography of ancient Athens, ancient technology and the ancient sport. For his book, Games and Sanctuaries in Ancient Greece John Boardman has written a foreword.

Valavanis is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute.
