Panther Painter

The Panther was a painter vase painter of the Attic black-figure style.

The Panther painter was probably at the same time or a little later active as the Nessus - painter, with whom he had in common a love of plaits. His vases were only in Attica but outside of Athens, partly in Vari, found. It is therefore assumed that the Panther Painter was not from Athens, supplying only a small regional market of the Attic inland. He painted primarily Lekaniden with animal friezes.
