Pantokratoros monastery

It is located on the northeast side of the peninsula and is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord. In the hierarchy of the Athonite monasteries located on seventh place.

The monastery was founded in 1363 by Alexy Stratopedarch and John Primikerij.

In the library there are about 350 manuscripts and 3,500 printed books. The documents of the monastery are written in Greek and Turkish. At present, about 15 monks work in the monastery.
