Papa Eftim IV

Eftim IV ( civil Ümit Paşa Erenerol ) is the fourth and reigning patriarch of the autocephalous Turkish Orthodox Patriarchate that is not recognized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and has strong influence of Turkish nationalism.

Ümit Erenerol is the grandson of Eftim I and son of Eftim III. He became patriarch after Eftim III. after disagreements with the Turkish government on the bonds between the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Opel and the Turkish state and the Turkish EU accession resigned his office and died a few weeks later

Eftim IV took over the patriarchate in 2002. During his reign, the church suffered a decline. A church no longer exists, but assets are available. 2008 Sevgi Erenerol was the daughter of Eftim III. , Sister of Eftim IV and official spokesperson of the Patriarchate, was arrested for alleged links to the alleged Ergenekon nationalist underground organization by the Turkish police, interrogated and then arrested. It has also been claimed that patriarchy supposedly serve as the headquarters for the organization.

Finally Papa Eftim IV was arrested in February 2008 itself because abgeblicher membership in the Organization for questioning.
