Papilio antonio

Papilio antonio is a butterfly of the family of Swallowtail Butterfly ( Papilionidae ). Its distribution area is located exclusively in the Philippines.

Features

The moths reach a wingspan of 90 to 110 millimeters. The forewings are dark brown to black. In the lower fifth of the Postdiskalregion is a yellow, triangular area that is steadily wider towards the edge, and continues on the hind wing. The hind wings are also dark brown to black and dusted with countless yellow scales. The yellow area is continued until the mid- Postdiskalregion and forms a triangle as a whole, which is, however, cut from the Submarginalregion out a little. The outer edge of the hind wings is wavy and has a tail extension. In Analwinkel is a yellow, implied eyespot.

The underside of the forewing is very similar to the upside. Above the yellow region in the Postdiskalregion a yellow dot. Furthermore, highlighted all the veins on the underside dark brown yellow. The underside of the hind wings also resembles strongly the top. Again, all veins are yellow and the basal region is sprinkled with numerous yellow scales. In the Submarginalregion is located near the outer edge of a chain of yellow and white shapeless spots that almost merge into a napkin.

There is in wing pattern no gender differences, both have the same wing drawings and the same body, the top is black and the bottom dark brown.
