Paplitz is a district of the city Genthin district Jerichower Land in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

The village lies on the southern edge of the lowlands Fiener break, surrounded by agricultural land. Southwest of the village begin the forest areas of the High Flämings. By Paplitz the federal highway 107 ( - Wiesenburg / Mark Genthin ) runs. The ramp to Highway 2 ( Magdeburg - Berlin) is 7.5 km away. 1.1 km east of the village is the boundary to the state of Brandenburg.

For the former municipality Paplitz belonged to the 2.4 km south to the district Gehlsdorf.

History

Although Paplitz was first mentioned in records in 1225 for the first time under the name Popelitz, the settlement AD must already have passed no later than the 10th century. The place name is of Slavic origin, and during that period the Jerichower land was inhabited by Slavic tribes. Joachim von Byern who already possessed estates in Karow and Parchen, acquired in 1574 also Paplitz. At this time the place was already the Brandenburg territory and was assigned to the Ziesarschen circle. With the Prussian county government reform of 1815 Paplitz came to the newly formed county Jerichow II with the county town of Genthin. Since Paplitz was mainly based on agriculture, the farmers of the Prussian agrarian reform of 1807 could directly benefit. They bought in 1831 for 150 dollars six acres of arable, they could henceforth manage freely, and solved for another 150 dollars all from feudal obligations. At this time, the annual income of a large servant was about ten dollars. Middle of the 19th century, the road Genthin - Paplitz built, which was later extended by Ziesar. In the formation of the magisterial districts in 1872 Paplitz was assigned to the Office Tucheim. The population changed only slightly from 609 in 1910 to 675 in 1933. The formerly independent Gutsbezirk Paplitz was incorporated in 1908 with about 30 residents in the rural municipality Paplitz.

On 1 July 2009 Paplitz was incorporated along with Gladau and Tucheim in the city Genthin. The administrative community Genthin, the Paplitz belonged until then, was dissolved at the same time.

Policy

The last elected on 13 June 2004 council consisted of eight members (7 x free voter groups, 1 x CDU).

The last honorary mayor Franz Schuster was first elected on 25 September 1994. In the mayoral election on 6 May 2001, he received 100 percent of the valid votes.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was designed in 1997 by Jörg Kommunalheraldiker Mantzsch. Until then, for over 70 years there was a picture seal that shows in front of a sheaf of corn crossed scythe and rake.
