Parable of the Pearl

The telling of Jesus of Nazareth Parable of the pearl of great price is handed down only in the Gospels in the New Testament of the Bible by the Gospel according to Matthew ( Mt 13:45-46 EU) and thus belongs to the St. Matthew 's special material. A variant of this parable is also found in the non-canonical Gospel of Thomas in logion 76.

Jesus says the kingdom of heaven like a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: and finally found one pearl of great price. Then he sold everything he had in order to acquire these precious pearl can.

Interpretation

There are several variants of interpretation for the precious pearl. One way is to look at the pearl as a symbol of Christ.

Furthermore, the pearl but also as a promise of salvation, as the birth of God in the soul, as a reminder, the kingdom of heaven preceded the earthly, or after Augustine equated with the love of brother and to God.
