Parkia

Parkia platycephala

Parkia is a genus of flowering plants of the legume family. It was named in 1826 by the botanist Robert Brown after the Scottish explorer Mungo Park.

Overall, about 40 species are known. These are found in the tropics of South America, Asia and Africa especially.

The pods of some species are edible and are used as food for humans and livestock.
