Parosmia

The medical preamble describes a qualitative parosmia smell or olfactory dysfunction with clinical significance. The person feels this one olfactory impression is different from the average population.

Among the forms of parosmia include Euosmie ( odors are falsely perceived as pleasant ) that Kakosmie ( odors are falsely perceived as unpleasant ), the Pseudoosmie ( odor impressions, for example, under the influence of emotions reinterpreted ) and the Phantosmie ( hallucinatory odor impressions ).

Causes

The causes infections, neurological disorders, toxic damage to the olfactory epithelium, post-traumatic brain damage, tumors of the central nervous system and psychiatric disorders are discussed.
