Parry Mitchell, Baron Mitchell

Parry Andrew Mitchell, Mitchell Baron ( born May 6, 1943) is a British businessman, Labour Party politician and life peer.

Life and career

Mitchell was born on May 6, 1943 as the son of Leon Mitchell. He attended the London University and the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University, where he graduated with an MBA.

As an entrepreneur, he has been active in the field of information technology. He was involved in the founding of three companies that are market leaders have been at home and abroad.

From 1976 to 1987 he was Chairman ( Chairman ) of the United Leasing plc. From 1992 to 2006 he was chairman of the Syscap plc. There he started with 5 employees, now there are nearly 200 active employees. Since 2006 he is the elearning at the Foundation and the Weizmann UK.

Currently ( September 2012 ), he is also Chairman ( Chair ) and member of the Trusteeship Council ( trustee ) of the Coexistence Trust since 2008. He is a member of the Trusteeship Council of the Genesis Research Trust and the Lowy Mitchell Foundation.

Mitchell is patron ( patron ) of Jewish Care and World Jewish Relief.

Membership in the House of Lords

Mitchell was appointed on 10 May 2000 for Life peer as Baron Mitchell, of Hampstead in the London Borough of Camden and its official introduction into the House of Lords took place on 24 May 2000 with the support of Margaret Jay, Baroness Jay of Paddington and Michael Levy, Baron Levy.

His inaugural address was delivered on 7 December 2000 as part of the Address in Reply to Her Majesty 's Most Gracious Speech. Shortly before, both his father Leon and his parents- Professor Jack Lowy and Lowy Ruth had died.

As subjects of political interest he calls on the website of the upper house information technology, small business, foreign affairs, education and alcohol abuse. As states of interest there he calls Israel and the United States.

He reported in the following years about child abuse, Afghanistan, the Middle East, Victor Bout and alcohol abuse to speak.

Since 2012 he is Oppostionssprecher for Business, Innovation and Skills.
