Pasay City ( officially: City of Pasay, Filipino: Lungsod ng Pasay ) is a major city in the Philippines and part of the capital region of Metro Manila. The town is bordered with a approximately 3.5 -kilometer stretch of coast directly to the Manila Bay. In the north of the capital Manila closes at, in the east the neighboring cities of Makati and Taguig and Parañaque City to the south. Pasay was appointed with a population of 88,000 to the city on 21 June 1947. Subsequently, the city was briefly Rizal City, named after the Philippine national hero Jose Rizal. About the origin of the name of the city there are several theories, but no historical records secured. Most likely this is true, that the name of the town goes back to the Princess Dayang Dayang Pasay from the Kingdom Namayan. The Kingdom Namayan with capital Sapa (now Santa Ana, a district in the city of Manila ) extended in the 12th century by the Manila bay, towards Laguna de Bay. Princess Dayang Dayang Pasay inherited the lands that today comprise inter alia the present territory of Pasay City 's.

The city belongs to the tourism belt Metro Manila and is visited by many travelers, not least because of its attractive location on the Manila Bay and the countless restaurants, bars and shops, especially along the Roxas Boulevard. A special attraction for visitors is also opened in May 2006 Mall of Asia, one of the largest malls in the Philippines. In addition, also the Ninoy Aquino Airport is located in the city of Pasay City. Good transport links to the surrounding towns are on the one of the main arteries Roxas Boulevard and EDSA, and on the MRT 3 and LRT 1 lines of the S -Bahn system.

Administratively, the city is divided into 201 barangays, which here bear no individual names, but only of Barangay Barangay 1 to 201 are numbered.
