Arellano University

The Arellano University (AU ), (Filipino: Pamantasang Arellano ) is a state university in the Philippines. It is regarded as an important educational institution in the Philippines and in the administrative regions of Metro Manila. It was named in honor of Cayetano Arellano University.

Locations

It has seven locations in the following communities:

  • The main campus of the University is located on the 2600 Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard in Barangay Sampaloc, Manila
  • The AU Juan Sumulong campus in Barangay Legarda in Manila
  • Jose Abad Santos Campus of AU in Pasay City
  • The AU Apolinario Mabini Campus in Pasay City
  • Andres Bonifacio the AU campus in Pasig City
  • The AU Plaridel campus in Mandaluyong City
  • The AU Elisa Esguerra Campus in Malabon City

Faculties

The Arellano University houses several faculties, these are divided into high school and technical college areas, as well as vocational training institutes and colleges. These are the Graduate School of Education, Graduate School of Nursing, Graduate School of Business, Law, Accountancy, Allied Medical Services, Arts & Sciences, Business & Commerce, Computer Science, Education, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, International Programs and Radiologic Technology.

History

The precursor of the University was built in 1938, as the Arellano Law College was opened. It was created on the initiative of Florentino Cayco Sr. From December 1941 to March 1945 she had due to the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during the Second World War, close. The college developed rapidly, first two-year courses were offered to obtain the general university and the Bachelor of Laws. In 1947, more courses offered to obtain the Bachelor of Science in Education and the Elementary Teachers Certificate. On February 22, 1947 the college of university status was awarded. In 1954, the first courses were offered in nurse training and 1960, the School of Nursing opened, which later became a private college. In 1978, the Florentino Cayco Memorial School of Graduate Studies was opened and named after the founder of the university. At the University were the Master of Business Administration, be obtained Master of Science and Economics and a Master of Arts in Nursing.

Sports

The university has a total of 24 sports teams in the Diszipilen basketball, volleyball, chess, taekwondo, badminton and the three-way battle. These teams are all considered AU Chiefs called. The basketball team won the Philippine Cup and the Fr Martin Cup and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan Basketball Cup in 2006 and 2007. The chess team is listed at number two.
