University of Luzon

The University of Luzon ( LU) (Filipino: Pamantasan ng Luzon ) is located in the province of Pangasinan in the Philippines. It is a private university and is considered an important educational institution in the administrative region of the Ilocos region. The campus and the administrative headquarters of the University is located on Perez Boulevard, Dagupan City. A total of approximately 16,000 students enrolled since the mid-1980s, per semester at the university. According to the information provided by the university, it is among the top 20 universities in the Philippines.

Programs

The University of Luzon is home to a variety of faculties, these are divided into high school and technical college areas, as well as vocational training in training programs. These are, for example, the training programs in the areas of Elementary, Law, Nursing, Engineering, Graduate Studies, Medical Technology, Midwifery, AIMT, Criminology, Journalism, Architecture, Human Ressouses Management and Tourism, Computer Science and Pharmacy and Information Technology and Globalization. Since the term 2008/ 09 correspondence courses are offered and introduced an e-learning system. The University offers five training programs of the Level III -A, this in the training areas Criminology since 2006, Teacher Education programs ( Elementary Education and Secondary Education), Commerce and Liberal Arts since 2007.

History

The origins of the university date back to 1948 when the then mayor of Dagupan developed the concept to open a secondary school, the Luzon College of Commerce and Business Administration ( LCCBA ). 1952, the college was renamed the Luzon Colleges ( LC). In 2002 the college was granted the status of a University and the University of Luzon was born. In 2008 was awarded to the Philippines by the State Board of Education, the College of Criminology as the first Center of Excellence.
