Mindanao State University

The Mindanao State University is located on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The university is regarded as a major educational institution in the administrative regions Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Northern Mindanao, Sulu Archipelago and Zamboanga Peninsula. The university is divided into eleven locations in the municipalities of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Marawi City, General Santos City, Naawan, Iligan City, Jolo, Tawi - Tawi and Buug. The headquarters of the University is located at the Main campus in Marawi City.

Faculties

The Mindanao State University is home to eighteen different faculties, these are divided into high school and technical college areas, as well as vocational education in colleges. Among these, the College of Agriculture, College of Business Administration, College of Education, Engineering, Fisheries, Forestry and Environmental Studies, Health Sciences include, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Information Technology, Law, Medicine, - Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Public Affairs, Social Sciences and Humanities, Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, Graduate School, and the Institute of Science Education and the King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic and Asian Studies. Overall, 2007 enrolled at the Mindanao State University 53,000 students, who are taught by 3,100 teachers.

History

The University's history began on 1 September 1961 with the entry into force of Republic Act 1387th The University grew out of the attempt to better integrate the southern parts of the country in the political structure of the Philippines. There enrolled in the first academic year 282 students, which were taught by 12 teachers. In the 1970s and 1980s the educational institutions and training programs has been greatly expanded. Due to the new requirements of the campus MSU Main Marawi City came in, MSU - IIT in Iligan City, MSU - TCTO in Tawi - Tawi, MSU Naawan in Misamis Oriental, MSU - Maguindanao, MSU - General Santos and MSU - Sulu on Jolo.
