Surigao del Sur State University

The Surigao del Sur State University is a public university in the province of Surigao del Sur in the Philippines. It is regarded as an important educational institution in the Caraga Administrative Region. The university is divided into six locations in the communities Tandag City, Cagwait, San Miguel, Lianga, Tagbina and Cantilan. The headquarters of the University is located at the Tandag Campus, Barangay Rosario, in Tandag City. 2011 9.247 students enrolled at the university in a second semester

Faculties

The Surigao del Sur State University houses four different faculties, these are divided into high school and technical college as well as in areas of vocational education in colleges. These are the faculties of Arts and Sciences, Business and Management, Engineering and Computer Studies and Teacher Education.

History

The university was established on February 22, 2010 on the basis of Republic Act 9998. Previously it was known as Surigao del Sur Polytechnic State College. The history of the university began in 1982, when the Bukidnon Bukidnon State College the External Studies Center opened a branch office in Tandag City. In 1992 it became the Surigao del Sur Polytechnic College. In this educational institution was the Cagwit School of Arts and Trades, the integrated Surigao del Sur Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture in Lianga, the Tago River Valley Institute of Agriculture in Tago and Tagbina - Barobo National Agricultural High School in Tagbina. The Surigao del Sur Polytechnic College was upgraded in 1998 by the Republic Act 8628 and created the Surigao del Sur Polytechnic State College. In 2000, the Surigao del Sur Institute of Technology integrated into Cantilan in the State College.
