University of Mindanao

The University of Mindanao (UM), (Filipino: Unibersidad ng Mindanaw ) is a private university in the Philippines, which is regarded as an important educational institution in the Philippines and in the administrative region Davao Region. In the second semester of 2007, 29,765 students enrolled at the university. Its headquarters is the Matina Campus at the Bolton Street in Davao City. Other sites are among others in the communities Digos City, Tagum City and Cotabato City.

Faculties

The University of Mindanao is home to nine different faculties, which are divided into high school and technical college areas, as well as vocational education in colleges. These are the College of Business Administration Education, the College of Engineering Education, the College of Accounting Education, the College of Law Education, the College of Architecture and Fine Arts Education, the College of Nursing Education, the College of Arts and Sciences Education, the College of Teacher Education and the College of Criminal Justice Education.

History

The history of the university began on 27 July 1947, when the Mindanao Colleges were founded. In the first school year, 381 students were taught by 13 teachers. End of the 1940s and into the 1950s, the field offices were in Digos City, Bangoy, Peñaplata, Tagum City (1950), Guianga (1952 ), Ilang - Tibungco (1951 ), Panabo (1951 ), Bansalan (1962 ), Cotabato (1959 ) and Toril founded. On December 21, 1966 the college of university status was granted. The University has since the 1970s with the John Dewey International University Consortium of America, New York City, and the Fongchia College of Engineering and Business of Taipei, Taiwan networked.
