Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao

Datu Odin Sinsuat ( Dinaig ), is a town in Maguindanao province on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines. Previously, the community was known by the name Dinaig and was the seat of the provincial government of the former province of Shariff Kabunsuan.

Origin of the name

The community is named after Datu Odin Sinsuat, a former mayor of the village, who held the office for over forty years.

Geography

In the north of Datu Odin Sinsuat lies the city of Cotabato City. To the northeast lies the community Kabuntalan, in the west Talitay and Talayan, from the province of Maguindanao, in the south, the municipality of Upi and to the east is found along the coast of the Gulf of Moro.

In the east, the region is flat and level, in the middle of Datu Odin has Sinsuat highlands and mountain areas, while to the west coast region is found.

The municipality has a total area of ​​5032 km ². This makes it the largest area municipality in the province of Shariff Kabunsuan by the municipality Upi.

The best-known site in the municipal area is the campus of the Mindanao State University

Economy

The main source of income of the community citizens is farming and fishing. Datu Odin Sinsuat has many beautiful beaches that have been expanded to departments and serve the residents of Cotabato City as a destination on the weekend. The community is home to the campus of the University MSU - Maguindanao.

History

The community Dinaig was collected on 18 August 1947, the Executive Order No. 82 in the state of the administrative unit. Later it was renamed in Datu Odin Sinsuat, in honor of their respected citizen, who was mayor for over 40 years.

Datu Odin Sinsuat became a haven for families who were displaced by the civil war between the Muslim freedom fighters, the MNLF and the government troops from neighboring communities.
