Patch Adams

Hunter Doherty "Patch " Adams ( born May 28, 1945 in Washington, DC) is an American doctor. Adams, in 1972 the " health! Institute "was founded. His life was the inspiration for the film Patch Adams with Robin Williams in the title role. Adams now lives in Arlington, Virginia, where he practiced alternative medicine in collaboration with the Institute.

Health! Institute

A modified form of the institute is in West Virginia in planning: a free clinic in a health-oriented eco - community. The goal is a traditional hospital with alternative medicine (acupuncture, homeopathy, etc. ) to combine. The care should include medical treatment, but also artistic expression, crafts, nature experience, soil management and relaxation. Volunteers are now asked on the project's website for help, even though the hospital itself is not yet built. Currently this work together with the resident women's prison and a small hospital in the region. This work is documented through several videos and books (see website).
