Pater Noster Lighthouse

Pater Noster is a lighthouse on the skerry Hamneskär, one of the Pater Noster archipelago, in southern Bohuslän near Rönnäng in the community Tjörn in Sweden. The lighthouse was built in 1868 made ​​of iron and was until 1977 in operation. The lighthouse replaced a beacon on the fortress Carlsten in Marstrand. From 2002 to 2007 he was extensively refurbished, since 26 September 2007, the lighthouse is operational again. The name " Pater Noster " is therefore derived that the Pater Noster archipelago are in a dangerous waters where previously many a sailor in distress should have prayed an Our Father.

The island with the lighthouse is as defined by the International Hydrographic Organization exactly at the boundary between the Skagerrak and Kattegat.
