Patio Bullrich

The Patio Bullrich is a shopping center in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. It is situated in the Retiro district on Avenida del Libertador.

Overview

The Patio Bullrich 1867 originally built by the English architect Juan Waldorp as an auction house for livestock and Konsignationshaus for the company Adolfo Bullrich y Cia, headed by Adolfo Bull Rich and was over 100 years used for this purpose.

The rising land prices in the high-priced Retiro district prompted the family, the plot on Avenida del Libertador to the company Alto Palermo SA, one of the leading Contractors for sale in the 1980s. Alto Palermo commissioned the architectural firm of Pfeifer & Zurdo with the conversion into a shopping mall. They designed a six-storey shopping arcade, preserved by Waldorp for some of the original details, including the clock tower, sculptures and neoclassical facade.

Opened in August 1988, the Patio Bullrich was the first of a series of upscale shopping centers, which replaced one after the other old favorites of the city, including the Galerias Pacifico belongs. In 1995, the Patio Bullrich was modernized and expanded. In addition to numerous shops now also includes four cinemas to the complex.
