Patna (princely state)

Patna was a princely state of British India in what is now the state of Odisha. Its capital was the site of Balangir. The Principality of Hindu Chauhan Rajputs founded in the 13th century by Raja Ramai Deo. It came in the course of Marathenkriege under the suzerainty of Sambalpur (1797 ), which was a British protectorate in 1817 and 1849, British Indian province. 1865 Patna was an independent princely state. It had in 1901 an area of ​​6503 km ² and 278,000 inhabitants.

The last Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo, joined in August 1947, the Eastern States Union.
