Pątnów, Łódź Voivodeship

Pątnów ( German Pathenau, Patnow, 1943-1945 Patenau ) is a village and seat of the homonymous municipality with about 1400 inhabitants in Poland. Pątnów is located about ten kilometers south of Wieluń and about 100 kilometers east of Wrocław in the powiat Wielunski in the Łódź Voivodeship, and is on the edge of the Wieluƒ heights ( Wyżyna Wieluńska ), a karst area.

History

In 1940, the village was settled after the occupation of Poland by German resettlers and renamed Patenau. Predominantly German -born persons from Eastern Europe were resettled herein. The territory belonged to the district Welun in the Reich Warta country. The German inhabitants fled in early 1945 from the village of the Red Army.
