Patrick Hamilton (writer)

Anthony Walter Patrick Hamilton ( born March 17, 1904 in Hassocks, Sussex, † September 23, 1962 in Sheringham, Norfolk ) was an English writer.

After attending Westminster School and a brief acting career, he became a successful novelist in the 1920s. In addition to the plays Gaslight ( in America known as Angel Street ), Rope 's End and Rope (1948 filmed by Alfred Hitchcock Rope ), he wrote novels. His 1941 published novel Hangover Square - A story from the darkest Earl 's Court plays in 1939 in a London pub district.
