Patrik Ćavar

Patrik Ćavar ( born March 24, 1971 in Metković ) is a Croatian handball player.

Ćavar, who last played for French club Saint Marcel Vernon and formerly ran aground in the Croatian men's national handball team was flexible to his playing days at all Rechtshänderpositionen; most of the time but he played on the left wing.

Patrik Ćavar began with the Handball Game in his hometown at the RK Metković. At age 17 he moved to FK Borac Banja Luka, with 19 years on to the top club RK Zagreb. With the Brussels residents he won the 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997, the Croatian league and Croatian Cup, the 1992 and 1993 European Champion Clubs' Cup and 1993 European Supercup. During this time he was four times top scorer in the Croatian league and was five times voted the best player. In 1997 he moved to the Spanish top club FC Barcelona. With the Catalans he won in 1998, 1999 and 2000, the Spanish Championship, 1998 and 2000 Copa del Rey de Balonmano, 2000 and 2001, the Copa ASOBAL, 1998, 2000 and 2001 the Spanish Super Cup and highlights as 1998, 1999 and 2000, the EHF Champions League and the association Championship. In 2001 he moved to BM Granollers. There, however, he did not win another title in 2005 and returned to his home, where he joined the RK Zagreb Zagreb Medveščak joined. From January 2006 he played again in the first French league at Saint Marcel Vernon, before he ended his career in the summer of 2007.

Patrik Ćavar has played over 160 matches for the Croatian men's national handball team. With his country he won at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta Gold and was also the top scorer of the tournament; at the Men's Handball World Championship for Men 1995 Iceland his team won a silver medal and at the European Handball Championship bronze in 1994. In the Men's Handball World Championship for Men in 2003 and the 2004 Olympics he was missing through injury.
