Patriots of Russia

Patriots of Russia (Russian Патриоты России / Patrioty Rossii ) is the name of a political party in Russia.

The party was formed in April 2005 by the merger of several smaller parties. According to its program, the party aims to develop a socially just civil society in Russia by uniting and working together of all patriotic forces. Nationalism and other forms of extremism are rejected it. In March 2006, the party could take the five percent hurdle in the regional elections in the Kaliningrad oblasts and Orenburg. In December 2007, she first appeared in the elections to the State Duma, but missed with 0.89 % of the vote clearly the Seven percent hurdle.

The chairman of the party is Gennady Semigin, since 2003 member of the Duma in the Rodina fraction and until 2004 a member of the Communist Party of Russia.
