Paul Codrea (2009)

Paul Codrea ( born April 4, 1981 in Timişoara) is a former Romanian football player. The midfielder played 180 games in the Romanian League 1 and the Italian Serie A. As a national player, he took part in the 2008 European Football Championship.

Career

Association

Codrea began playing football in his hometown at the club Banatul. With good performances, he played to the note list of talent scouts and soon after he moved to the youth department of Dinamo Bucharest. From the season 1996/97 he was the pro squad of the Romanian elite clubs. However, he completed only two games and the Dinamo managers decided to borrow him for the following season for FCU Politehnica Timişoara second division. Two seasons later he moved back to the Diviza A to FC Arges Pitesti. There, the Romanian was also for two years under contract. Neither in Timişoara, nor in Piteşti Codrea was set and was mostly a reserve player, but could flashed off and on his talent. Only when he ventured abroad in the summer of 2001, he received more playing time. His first club was Genoa in Italy in 1893 in the series as early as the first season he was a regular player. Other Italian clubs were quickly aware of him, so that he has already moved to Palermo in the winter of 2003. In the first year, the club narrowly missed promotion to the Serie A. But a year later succeeded in this second attempt. The Rosaneri it had Paul Codrea not easy and could not enforce properly. He stood there for three years under contract, but was borrowed twice. In Perugia Calcio and Torino Calcio, although he came to game time, could after returning to Palermo offer only rarely for the first team. Since the summer of 2006 Codrea stood at AC Siena under contract. After 22 games and two goals in his first season, he became the service provider. In summer 2012, returned to Romania and joined Rapid Bucharest. During the winter break, he returned to his hometown and joined the fourth division ASU Poli Timişoara on. After the season, he ended his active career.

National

2000 Paul Cordea celebrated his debut in the dress of the Romanian national team. Since then, he is irregular in the squad the selection of his country.

For the 2008 European Football Championship in Switzerland and Austria, he was appointed to the array of Romania coach Victor Piţurcă. He completed all three group games. However, the Romanian team already retired from after the first round. Already on 25 March 2008 before the tournament, Cordea was honored for his achievements in the European Championship qualifiers, as well as for reaching the finals of the Romanian President Traian Băsescu with the " Meritul Sportiv ", an award for athletes.
