Paul Daniel Longolius

Paul Daniel Longolius ( born November 1, 1704 boiler near Dresden, † February 24, 1779 in Hof ) was a German encyclopedist.

Longolius studied with Carl Günther Ludovici. He was chief editor of Volumes 3-18 of Zedler's Universal Lexicon Aller large full knowledge managed and Arts from 1733 to 1739. His successor as chief editor was Carl Günther Ludovici.

From 1735 until his death Longolius was rector of the Gymnasium and Hofer wrote at this time a large number of treatises on the history of the courtyard and the surrounding area. His successor as Rector was Georg Wilhelm Kirsch.

In the courtyard of the Longoliusplatz is named after him.
