Paul Davies (snooker player)

Paul Davies ( born June 22, 1970 in Newtown ) is a Welsh snooker player. He currently lives in Cardiff.

Career

Davies was 1991-2011 professional snooker on the main tour. He made it pretty quickly in the advanced world class and could then play it twice to the semi-finals of a ranking tournament (Dubai Duty Free Classic 1991 Asian Open 1993). He also made it to the finals of the 1994 Strachan Challenge, but held no rank list status.

Subsequently, however, his services stagnated, so that he could never break into the top 32 in the world rankings. In 1997, he managed once again a remarkable result, as he finished second at the Benson & Hedges Championship; the qualifying tournament for the Masters.

In nearly 20 years on the Main Tour, he has never been able to qualify for the finals of the World Snooker Championship, where he once failed only in his final qualifying match four.

After a disappointing 2010/11 season he had to leave the Main Tour.
