Paul de Borman

Paul de Borman ( born December 1, 1879 in Sint- Joost - ten-Node, † April 21, 1948 in Ostend) was a Belgian tennis player.

Life

De Borman took from 1897 to tennis tournaments. At the 1904 Wimbledon Championships he was able to advance to the semifinals, but was defeated there Josiah Ritchie in three sets. In the same year he participated together with his compatriot William le Maire de Warzee at the Davis Cup, but the Belgian team had to win the final Great Britain defeated. He won nine times the Belgian championships in singles and three times in doubles. Most recently, he played in the 1922 Single of Wimbledon.

In 1908 he married Anne de Selliers de Ville Moran, also a tennis player who participated at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp.

De Borman was involved in addition to the International Tennis Federation. He was chairman in 1919 and 1946 and 1947 President of the ITF. He died in 1948 at the age of 68 years in Ostend.
