Paul Desmarais

Paul D. Desmarais CC OQ ( born January 4, 1927 in Sudbury, Ontario, † October 9, 2013 in Quebec ) was a Canadian entrepreneur.

Life

Desmarais studied at the University of Ottawa and McGill University. Desmarais led the Canadian company Power Corporation of Canada (PCC ). Together with the Belgian Albert Frère, he founded the company Pargesa Holding.

According to the American Forbes Magazine Desmarais was one of the richest Canadians and was listed in The World's Billionaires. Desmarais was married and had two sons (Paul Jr. and André ) and two daughters ( Sophie and Louise ). His son André is with France Chrétien Desmarais, the daughter of former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, married. Desmarais had an estate in Sagard, Québec.
