Paul Emsley

Paul Emsley ( born August 25, 1947 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish artist.

Emsley grew up in South Africa and moved in 1996 to the United Kingdom.

In 2012 he was awarded the contract, the official portrait of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge to paint, which he completed in three and a half months. It came on and after its opening to some criticism. The writer Hilary Mantel thinks about, the view of the Duchess was " dead, " they also wear the strained smile of a woman who would the painter really like to say that he should go to hell ( "her eyes are dead and she wears the strained smile of a woman who really wants to tell the painter to bugger off ").
