Paul Kelly (actor)

Paul Michael Kelly ( born August 9, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York, † November 6, 1956 in Beverly Hills, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Kelly was already seven years old actor in silent films and played in a total of over one hundred films.

Between 1927 and 1929 he was a 25- month sentence for manslaughter in California from San Quentin prison. He had the actor Ray Raymond killed in a fist fight. Raymond's widow Dorothy MacKaye was imprisoned for a short time for complicity. She married Kelly in 1931 and died in 1940 in a car accident. From 1941 until his death, Kelly was married to Mardelle Zwicker.

Kelly died of a heart attack in 1956 at the age of 57 years. He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City ( California).

Theatre Prize

Kelly received the 1948 Tony Award as Best Actor for Command Decision. This award he shared with Henry Fonda for Mister Roberts ( Mister Roberts) and Basil Rathbone for The Heiress.
