Paul Merton

Paul Merton (actually: Paul James Martin, born July 9, 1957 in London ) is an English comedian and presenter.

Starting in 1982, Merton had first appearances in the comedy club Comedy Store in Soho. A few years later he became a permanent member of the improv comedy troupe The Comedy Store Players. In 1988 Merton was then known as a member of the Channel 4 show Whose Line Is It Anyway on TV?. Since 1989 he participates in Have I Got News for You in the panel show Just a Minute and since 1990. From 1991, he had his own sketch show for three years with The Series. From 1999 to 2007 he was the host of the comedy chat show Room 101

From 2007 he hosted multipart humorous travel documentaries: Paul Merton in China (2007, 4 episodes), Paul Merton in India (2008, 5 episodes) and Paul Merton in Europe (2010, 6 episodes).

He was twice awarded the British Comedy Award: in 1992 as Best TV Comedy Personality and Best Comedy Entertainment Personality 1999.
