Paul Merzbach

Paul Untermerzbach ( born November 27, 1888 in Vienna, Austria - Hungary, † September 1943 in London, United Kingdom) was an Austrian playwright, theater director, screenwriter, film director and editor.

Life

Paul Untermerzbach studied in Vienna and Berlin and graduated with a doctorate. He worked from 1911 at Vienna's new folk theater as a playwright and stage director. Later he was also at the Municipal Theatre of Wiener Neustadt worked.

Since 1921 screenwriter, he received from 1924 also occasionally directed orders. The highlight of his career reached Untermerzbach in Sweden, where he lived from 1926 to 1932. With luck melody ( Säg det i toner ) he was involved in 1929 as an author on the first Swedish sound film. Repeats Gustaf Molander directed his fabrics, occasionally led Untermerzbach also self- directed, including in the first two films with Zarah Leander.

In 1932 he returned to Germany, but emigrated in 1933 shortly after the seizure of power by the National Socialists. He now lived in the UK, where he was involved as a director and screenwriter on several films.
