Paul Murray (author)

Paul Murray ( born 1975 ) is an Irish writer.

His father was a professor at University College Dublin, his mother a teacher. Paul Murray graduated in the traditional Catholic Blackrock College for boys in a Dublin suburb. He then studied English Literature at Trinity College and creative writing at the University of East Anglia. Prior to his career as a writer, he worked as a bookseller.

In 2003, Murray published his first novel, An Evening of Long Goodbyes. This was nominated for the Whitbread First Book Award and the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award. His second novel, Skippy Dies, followed in 2010 and was nominated for numerous literary awards. A German translation appeared in 2011 at the Publisher Antje Kunstmann.
